The pandemic has exasperated challenges that were evident before it began. Those asking for a return to normal are bound to be disappointed since “normal” isn't feasible or what we thought it was. This session will begin by looking at the past. The impact COVID-19 has had on us as educators and in our communities has been devastating. Drawing from a time in our own childhoods, we consider how we might apply a sense of wonder and curiosity in our teaching today. Then, we will look in front of us at practical ways to chart a path forward and be kind to ourselves and others in the process. This session will also explore the role digital tools can play in heightening curiosity. The presenter has produced over 400 episodes of the Teaching in Higher Ed podcast. She will share inspiration and guidance from the many educators she has had the honor of learning from through publishing interviews each week since 2014.
