Elizabeth Barkley

An innovative educator who has dedicated over four decades to serving students and teachers, Elizabeth has authored four books on college teaching techniques published by Wiley/Jossey-Bass (https://www.collegeteachingtechniques.net) as well as several textbooks in music history. A popular keynote speaker and workshop presenter, she is co-founder with Claire H. Major of Faculy2Faculty: The Alliance for Research-Based Teaching (https://faculty2faculty.com) and the Executive Director of the K. Patricia Cross Academy (https://kpcrossacademy.org) - a non-profit organization that provides free professional development for college teachers. She has also received multiple teaching honors, including being named California's Higher Education Professor of the Year by the Carnegie Foundation for the Advancement of Teaching and being formally recognized for her contributions to undergraduate education by the California State Legislature. A Professor of Music History at Foothill College in Los Altos, California, Elizabeth holds a B.A. and M.A. from University of California, Riverside and a Ph.D. from University of California, Berkeley.
