Dale Hoffman

My passion is education.  I have loved teaching since I was a child and decided to become an elementary teacher when I completed my BS in Social Sciences at Cal Poly SLO.  Upon completion of my credential, I discovered my interest in adult education when I began teaching part time at Cuesta College and Cal Poly.  After finishing of my doctorate at UCDavis, I was hired to administer the education programs in a private women's prison and taught the inmates a variety of college classes through Yuba College, while continuing to teach for the Los Rios Community Colleges.  Although my Ph.D. is in Sociology, I have gradually transitioned to become an Anthropology instructor.  Biological Anthropology is my favorite.  For the last 20 years I have worked as a teacher and educational administrator for the California Department of Corrections & Rehabilitation, bringing community college opportunities to our high security inmate population.  In addition to my "day job," I currently teach for American River, Folsom Lake, and Sierra Colleges.  We are living the adventure of adapting our teaching to the current health crisis.
