Bethany N. Morrison

Bethany N. Morrison is a faculty developer and assistant director at the Center for Research on Learning and Teaching (CRLT) at the University of Michigan. She holds a PhD in Political Science from Emory University and continues to teach courses on American politics and policy-making. At CRLT, she consults with instructors and facilitates programs on a range of pedagogy topics, but is particularly energized by student engagement, authentic learning experiences, and structuring interactions for equity. The intersection of her two backgrounds—as a faculty developer and political scientist—has motivated her work on civic learning and democratic engagement across the curriculum. She co-leads the Promoting Democracy Teaching Series, a collaboration between CRLT and U-M's Ginsberg Center for Community and Civic Engagement that supports instructors making citizenship and democracy relevant to students within the context of their own fields and disciplines.
