Ana earned a Bachelor's degree in Biology at the University of Costa Rica. She moved to Flagstaff, AZ in 2006 to attend Northern Arizona University where she focused on the population genetics of ticks for her dissertation. She graduated in 2012 with a Ph.D. in Biology from NAU.
Currently, Ana teaching and coordinates Bio 181, an introductory course for Biology and Health Sciences majors at NAU. As coordinator, Ana has had the opportunity to incorporate innovative technologies and student-centered teaching techniques to the teaching of Bio 181. As part of her efforts of improving her teaching, Ana became an ACUE fellow in 2018.
Ana is passionate about affect positively the life of her students which is the main focus of her work.
