Will Hennessy is a full-time faculty member at Algonquin College, in Ottawa, Ontario, Canada, which is located on the traditional unceded, unsurrendered territory of the Anishinaabe Algonquin People. He works as an Educational Developer in the college’s Learning and Teaching Services (LTS), department, which supports faculty with their teaching, course design, and educational technology needs. He has been teaching in Higher Education for over a decade, after earning a Master of Education from the University of Ottawa, and undergraduate degrees at Trent University.
Will believes that effective teaching IS inclusive teaching. Growing up as a neurodivergent learner in many learning environments designed for "neurotypical" learning, he knows the value of cultivating belonging in the classroom, and he strives to centre this in his work. Through professional development facilitation, 1-on-1 consultations, and curated resource sharing, Will supports faculty in implementing inclusive curriculum, learning activities, and assessments into their teaching practice. He is passionate about neurodivergent, trauma-informed, and humanized educational strategies, as well as Universal Design for Learning (UDL). Also, about nachos 😊
