Safary Wa-Mbaleka is an associate professor of leadership in higher education at Bethel University, St. Paul, MN, USA. He teaches doctoral research classes fully online. He has been teaching in higher education since 2003. For more than 15 years, he has designed and taught online courses in various institutions. He has taught in various countries in Asia, Africa, and the Caribbean. With a PhD in instructional design for online learning, he has worked as an instructional designer, online course designer, online course facilitator, director of online instructional design, director of online education, and consultant for online education for the government, various universities, and one corporation. He was the lead editor of The SAGE Handbook of Online Higher Education. He is a prolific author and has published many books, book chapters, and journal articles about online education.
