Dr. Leslie Bayers is the Director of the Center for Teaching and Learning at the University of Pacific, where she promotes equity-minded and evidence-informed teaching and facilitates faculty mentoring and scholarship support. Before shifting her focus to educational development, she was a faculty member in Spanish and Latin American Studies and taught language, writing, literature, and film courses. She has published critical studies exploring intersections of power, race, and performance in Andean literature, as well as translations of Peruvian poetry. Her more recent scholarship questions inherited practices in higher ed and explores frameworks that empower college teachers and learners. Most recently, she contributed “The Joy of Embodied Learning" to the book Joy-Centered Pedagogy in Higher Education: Uplifting Teaching and Learning for All (Routledge, 2025).
