I have over 24 years of experience in the field of education. I have been employed by Indian River State College (IRSC) since August of 2004 and was in the classroom teaching from 2004 till 2014. In 2014, I transitioned into the role as the Director of the Institute for Academic Excellence – supporting faculty with professional development. In this capacity, I also serve as the Association of College and University Educators (ACUE) facilitator. In addition to supporting my fellow colleagues at IRSC, I have served on eight Southern Association of Colleges and Schools Commission on Colleges (SACS-COC) committees - supporting these institutions and reaffirmation. Prior to Indian River State College, I taught in the public-school system in Pennsylvania for five and a half years and in Florida for two years. I also taught as an adjunct instructor for Penn State University for three years.
I am originally from eastern Pennsylvania but have lived in southeastern Florida for the past 19 years. I graduated from Penn State University with a B.A. in Administration of Justice in 1990 and then went on to Moravian College for a certificate in Elementary Education. I found my niche in the field of education and continued graduate work in the field. I hold a M.Ed. with a Specialization in English as a Second Language from the Universidad del Turabo, Gurabo, Puerto Rico, and an Ed.D. in Curriculum & Instruction with a Specialization in Reading from Florida Atlantic University, Boca Raton, Florida.
Outside of work, I like to bike (bicycle), and I am a huge football fan. I support my Nittany Lions and the Dallas Cowboys> My dogs have been named after Dallas Cowboy players. Currently, we have a rescue named Lee. I double dipped and named him after Sean Lee – Penn State player and Dallas Cowboys.
