Alexandra (Ana) Kogl grew up in California and attended the University of California, Santa Cruz as an undergraduate. She received her PhD in Government and Politics from the University of Maryland, College Park. She currently teaches political theory and women’s studies courses as a political science professor at the University of Northern Iowa. Her recent book, Grey Sex: Heterosexuality and Everyday Domination analyzes the power dynamics within heterosexual experiences that fall in between good sex and sexual violence. Her current research focuses on the affective dimensions of civic education. She lives in Waterloo, Iowa, with her husband, sons, dog, cats, and many plants.
