Adelmar Ramírez has a bachelor's in Psychology and a master's degree in Creative Writing from the University of Texas at El Paso. He holds a Ph.D. in Hispanic languages and literature from UCLA. He published the books Fuera de temporada [Out of Season] (Bagatela Press, 2017) and Prestanombres [Frontman] (Editorial Los Sin Pisto, 2022), and the following IIIF-based book-length projects with students in his courses: U.S. Latinx Activism and Protests (Scalar, 2022), Iberian Cultures (Scalar, 2023), Corporal Images: Cultural Meanings of the Body. His poetic production has also been recognized in anthologies like Poetas parricidas: generación entre siglos (Cuadrivio, 2014). He was a finalist of the Loewe Foundation and Juan Ramón Jiménez awards, and winner of the first Transoceanic Poetry Prize granted by non-profit organizations from El Salvador, Cataluña and Washington D.C. He worked as cataloger of the Guatemalan genocide archive for the Shoah Foundation, at the USC. He is now an Assistant Professor of Spanish and Latin American Literature at Hood College.
